Strict Clock Times provide options for setting various shift rules on Work to automatically adjust clock times recorded by employees to the nearest Shift Start/End time if they clock in:
- Earlier than the expected start time
- Later than the expected end time
Strict Clock Times also includes the option for setting a default unpaid break time to be applied to clock entries.
Activating Strict Clock Times
Strict Clock Times are set on a per Work option basis and can be found under Manage > Work. These rules will automatically be applied to any time entries recorded through PayHero Shift (available in our Super or Universe plans) or the Mobile Start/Stop Clock against that Work option.
To activate Strict Clock rules, first select the checkbox alongside Has Default Hours and then select the now available Use Strict Clock Times checkbox.
Strict Clock Time Settings
With Strict Clock Times active there are a number of settings and options available to adjust the rules to your operating requirements.
You're able to set multiple Shifts rules on each Work option, including a Shift Start and End Time, just the Start Time or just an End Time. These options will then apply as follows:
Strict Buffer Time - The time frame prior to a set Shift Start Time or following a Shift End Time that any employees clocking in or out (within that time frame) will automatically apply the Shift Start or End Time respectively. Formatted as HH:MM e.g. 00:10 is a 10 minute buffer time.
For example, with the above settings, clocking in at 08:55 would be within the 10 minute Strict Buffer Time of the 09:00 Shift Start Time. This clock entry would automatically be adjusted to start at 09:00. A clock out occurring at 17:05, would automatically be set to 17:00 instead.
Break Duration - Set an unpaid break to be applied to any clock entries recorded against that Work option. Please note, the default break duration will only be applied to shifts where the built in break functionality is not used. If an employee records a break via Shift or the Mobile Start/Stop Clock, that break will be used instead. Formatted as HH:MM e.g. 00:30 is a 30 minute unpaid break.
Shift Start Time - A selected Start Time to automatically be applied to the recorded time entry if the clock in occurs with the set Strict Buffer Time. Formatted as HH:MM.
Shift End Time - A selected End Time to automatically be applied to the recorded time entry if the clock out occurs with the set Strict Buffer Time. Formatted as HH:MM.
