Superannuation Pay Items can be used for contributions into a superannuation fund. You can create custom superannuation pay items by clicking on the button.
KiwiSaver Employer Contribution is a permanent pay item here that will automatically apply to the Default Pay for any KiwiSaver members.
The rate of the employer contribution will match the rate you set on the employee’s Employment tab. For information about including the employer contribution in an employee’s earnings see our KiwiSaver support article.
Creating a Superannuation Pay Item
You can create custom superannuation items using two different fund types.
Complying Fund - A superannuation scheme that has membership criteria similar to KiwiSaver, such as your savings being locked in until the age of eligibility for NZ Super.
Other - A superannuation scheme that doesn't have membership criteria similar to KiwiSaver, these are ineligible for member tax credits.
Both the tax type of Superannuation Contribution and rate type of Percentage of Earnings remain the same across the two fund types.
You can set the Rate percentage to reflect the total amount to contribute each pay.
Selecting the Track Balance checkbox will track the total amount contributed if it's been included in an employee's default pay tab.
