Connecting PayHero to Claude lets you ask their AI assistant questions about your payroll data without copying anything out of PayHero. Claude reads the information straight from your company using our MCP server, an open standard for connecting AI tools to external systems.
The integration gives Claude read-only access to a set of tools covering employee details, leave balances, pay summaries, and hours worked, and it can only see data you'd already have access to as an admin in PayHero.
To connect your PayHero company, you'll need:
A Claude account
Admin access to the PayHero company you want to connect
The PayHero company to be on the Universe plan
Connecting PayHero to Claude
In Claude, open the Connectors page from your settings and search for PayHero in the connectors directory. Click the + to add it to your available connectors.
Once added, click Connect next to the PayHero connector.
You'll be redirected to the PayHero login page, where you can log in with your admin credentials. After logging in, you'll be prompted to select the PayHero company you'd like to connect from the list of companies your login has access to.
Review the tools the connector requests access to and click Allow to complete the connection.
Back in Claude, you can open the PayHero connector settings at any time to enable or disable individual tools.
NB: If your Claude account is part of an organisation, your Claude admin may need to add the PayHero connector for your organisation before you can add it yourself.
Tools
Once connected, you can choose which tools Claude has access to. Each tool covers a different area of your PayHero data, and you can enable or disable them at any time from the connector settings.
Employee Profile - Roster and employment details, such as name, role, team, status, pay cycle, and standard hours.
Leave Balances - Current annual, sick, and alternative leave available per employee.
Pay Summary - Pay totals over a date range from finalised pays, grouped by employee or period.
Leave - Leave requests with their dates and status (approved, declined, or pending).
Leave Summary - Totals of leave taken over a date range.
Hours Summary - Worked hours over a date range.
Asking Questions
With your PayHero company connected and tools enabled, you can ask Claude questions in chat and it will pull the relevant information from PayHero to answer.
For example, you might ask "How much annual leave does Sarah have left in PayHero?" and Claude will use the Leave Balances tool to look up the answer and respond in chat.
